We stayed in Moab for another few days, booked a rock climbing excursion on wall street with some extra money outside of our budget (this was SO fun! Riley made the most of it and climbed until the very last second possible). We then made our way to our next National Park. One of our absolute favorite camping sites so far has been just East of Capitol Reef NP. We found a dispersed camping, secluded spot, just off of the road by a river. It had plenty of trees and a fire pit, we witnessed an incredible starry sky that night. We enjoyed a relaxing morning with our coffee, a fire, and the perfect breeze coming through. I don’t think we will ever forget it.

The scenic drive in Capitol Reef was a highlight this week, as well as the deer that were everywhere on that side of the park. Watching them was so entertaining :)

The more adventurous part of our week was a short backpacking trip in Coyote gulch. To reach this location, you drive down β€œhole in the rock” road from Escalante. We parked and slept at the hurricane wash trailhead, then hiked in the following morning. Our site that we picked out was so cool, inside of a massive rock formation that sounded like a cathedral with voices echoing around us, and a small stream trickling over the rocks in the distance. It was very close to the Jacob Hamblin arch, which was another highlight.

Once we hiked out, we drove down the same road to the β€œpeek-a-boo” and β€œspooky” slot canyons. We did the full loop hike and thought it was incredible! That night we just pulled off the hole in the rock road onto dispersed camping and slept like babies. We really needed that rest, listened to our bodies, and took a break for a bit. Coming back to the trailer after hiking and climbing was so comfortable. We feel really lucky to call it our home for now <3
